Gold Coast Accommodation - Airport Transfers

The majority of visitors will require an airport transfer (aka shuttle) to and from the Brisbane airport terminals or the Gold Coast airport, and their Gold Coast accommodation. The transfers involve both time and expense that has to be considered in any holiday planning.

Accommodation tariffs do not include the costs involved in transfers, not do the reservations staff make transfer bookings on behalf of their guests. They will however suggest the best transfer options.

You will then need to make the transfer reservations yourself and the following are the most common options for airport transfers.

Motor Coach Shuttle Services

The most popular transfer option and one which provides door-to-door transfers between the airports and accommodation. Travel is usually in mini vans and small buses with a trailer for luggage.

Airport pick-ups and drop-off are in the designated coach zones at at the front of the airports.

When travelling to and from the Brisbane Airport, allow the following times:

1hour 15min from northern Gold Coast (Southport, Labrador, Runaway Bay area)
2 hours from central Gold Coast (Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach area)
2½ to 3 hours from southern Gold Coast (Coolangatta, Tweed Heads)

Coach tickets need to be booked in advance and a minimum of 48 hours notice is recommended. Car Rentals

If you are planning a Gold Coast car rental for your holiday, it makes sense to pick-up and drop-off at the airport. Aside from the convenience, you totally eliminate to expense of airport transfers to and from your accommodation. 

All the major rental companies are represented as well as a broad cross section of local companies offering everything from conventional family sedans and wagons to open top sports buggies and luxury sports cars.

Airtrain Connect

The Airtrain is a rail service that transfers visitors to and from the Brisbane airport terminals (domestic and international) to rail stations on the Gold Coast. Connections to the Gold Coast apartments and resorts is via taxi cabs or limousines.

Rail platforms are located at the front of the airport terminals and the service runs every 15 minutes from Brisbane and every 30 minutes from the Gold Coast. The service connects to stations at:

Helensvale: For Labrador, Biggera Waters, Runaway Bay and northern Gold Coast
Nerang: For Surfers Paradise accommodation, Main Beach and central Gold Coast
Robina: For Broadbeach accommodation and all areas south to Coolangatta

Tickets can be booked in advance online and can also be purchased at the station.

Limousine Services
For that special occasion there is always the option of a limousine, with choices ranging from a Rolls Royce, stretch limo and corporate sedan. 

Limos provide a service from the airports at Brisbane and Coolangatta, and many also provide a pick-up from the Airtrain stations.  Limousines need to be booked well in advance.
