Coffs Harbour - major holiday centre of the region with its crescent shaped beaches and banana plantations on the surrounding hills. Bushwalk the World Heritage listed Dorrigo and New England National Parks.

Arts and crafts communities at Bellingen. Coffs Harbour is the jumping off point for white water rafting in the Nymboida River. Deep sea fishing charters and diving in the Solitary Islands marine reserve. Tours available to Aboriginal sites. Nesting muttonbirds on Muttonbird Island.

Nambucca Heads - a quiet resort town overlooking the Nambucca River. Excellent lookout of the coast from Pilot Lookout.

Kempsey - an inland town serving the surrounding community. Home of the famous Akubra hat. Better known for the surrounding beach areas at Crescent Head and running north through the Hat Head National Park to South West Rocks.

Several heritage buildings and a working replica of an 1880's timber town inland at Wauchope. Some decent surf at the local beaches. Watersports are the major activity.

Taree - services the farming communities of the rich Manning River valley. Crowdy Bay National Park along the northern coast. Visits to Ellenborough Falls, the highest waterfall in Australia and the hot Springs at Mt George. Travel inland to the rural community of Gloucester for its trout and perch fishing.

Barrington Tops National Park - 39,000 spectacular hectares of World Heritage listed forest wilderness situated on rugged Barrington Plateau rising to around 1600 metres. Home to Antartic beech, eucalypts and rainforest species. Plenty of lookouts, walking trails and picnic spots. Subject to snowing in winter and sudden weather changes at any time.

Tuncurry - Forster - twin towns at the entrance to Wallis Lake. Some excellent ocean beaches at Forster as well the quiet lake areas. Visit the first Amish community at Nabiac near Forster. Dolphin watching cruises operate from Forster. Aboriginal art centre in Forster.
