Queensland Outback Holidays

Spend some time in the outback and you begin to understand just how big Australia really is! The Queensland Outback is a huge area stretching almost 3000 km from the New South Wales border in the south up into the Gulf Country in the north and across to the Northern Territory border in the west.

The Outback is an area full of of surprises. Parched in the dry, floodwaters kilometres wide in the wet season. Tree lined lagoons and winter wildflowers.

Queensland outback holidays will almost certainly include old bush pubs, country hospitality and pioneering spirit. A "don't rush" lifestyle.

Vivid sunsets and sunrises. Aboriginal rock art, dinosaur fossils in one place, opals and sapphires in another. Perfectly suited for holidays in 4WD rental vehicles.

The major routes through the Queensland outback are bitumen sealed and safe for all classes of vehicles. However once you leave the major highways, many roads are unsealed and 4WD vehicles are the order of the day.

No matter what type of vehicle you are driving it is essential that you carry a emergency equipment and spares in good working order. Seek advice from the nearest RACQ office.
