The Sunshine Coast is a favoured holiday destination for families. Much of the region is still in its natural state and has not been been lost to the typical high rise development that has swamped other popular beach locations. Sunshine Coast holidays involve miles of natural, pristine beaches, trips to the craft markets in the cool elevated hinterland, bush walking and rock-climbing for the adventurous .... and every water sport imaginable. Visitors will find a great collection of Sunshine Coast accommodation with features, facilities and budgets to suit everyone. Visitors who prefer the convenience of an hotel, or with only a short stop-over, will find an excellent choice of Sunshine Coast hotels that will meet their every need. Noosa - Known as one of the better surfing spots on the Sunshine Coast and a popular holiday resort. Noosa is a very beautiful location and a prized address and now the most fashionable and upmarket centre on the Sunshine Coast. Head north to Cooloola National Park, Lake Cootharaba and the Teewah coloured sands. Enjoy the unspoiled beaches of Sunshine and Peregian. Take a trip inland to the Eumundi markets.
Maroochydore - the heart of the Sunshine Coast and only "discovered" by the masses during the 60's. Maroochydore is a combination of golden beaches, parks and the Maroochydore River. Popular holiday resort with a mixture of modern developments together with the original holiday homes. Visit the medieval castle at nearby Bli Bli or the two-thirds replica of Captain Cook's vessel, Endeavour Mooloolaba & Alexandra Headland - Mooloolaba has been a centre for major waterfront residential development on the Sunshine Coast. No shortage of good surf beaches. A trawler fleet operates from Mooloolaba and there is an attractive marina. Try the shopping at The Wharf and pay a visit to Underwater World. Take a trip to Buderim and visit the Pioneer Cottage. Caloundra - traditionally a family holiday centre and surrounded by 12 km of beaches. Caloundra is a mixture of retirees and holiday makers. A popular fishing spot accessing the Pumicestone Channel which is also popular with water sports enthusiasts. A 12 km stretch of surf beach links Caloundra to Mooloolaba in the north. Visit the Queensland Air Museum. Have a beer at the nearby Ettamogah pub.
Stop off at the Kondalilla National Park and falls, then on to Montville, Yandina and back to the coast at Coolum. Numerous opportunities for tea and scones, local arts and crafts. The Maleny folk festival in December has become a major event in the region. The unusual Glasshouse Mountains, inland from Caloundra, are excellent for scenic drives, bushwalking and rock-climbing. Climbs are of varying levels of difficulty.
